In the late 1960â??s John L. Grove, with his wife Cora started out on a cross country voyage in their RV. Freshly retired, after spending many years working with his brother to develop their crane business into an industry leader, John had no idea that fateful trip would allow JLG Industries, Inc to emerge. The world leader of mobile aerial work platforms and precision material handling technologies was the end result of a road trip.
All through their journey, John reacquainted himself with former business connections along the way. In combination with these conversations and a noteworthy event; two workers had been tragically electrocuted on scaffolding when the Groves were passing through the Hoover Dam. John uncovered a vast market for a product that could promptly and safely lift individuals in the air to accomplish upkeep and other building services.
After their return from holiday, John set up a joint venture with two of his friends and purchased a metal fabrication company in McConnellsburg, Pennsylvania. Opening with a small crew of twenty workers, they fashioned and sold their first JLG aerial work platform in 1970. The business incorporates some of the basic design essentials of that original lift into existing versions.
Since then, JLG Forklifts have come a great distance from when Mr. John L. Grove came back from his fatefull cross-country journey and since the first JLG aerial platform entered the marketplace. As of today, the company has expanded itself into quite a few global markets and continues to develop new machinery to guarantee that clients are able to become safer and more well-organized within their workplace.
